Why No Byline?
In a digital landscape where bylines are increasingly becoming a standard feature, we adhere to anonymity. We maintain a historical tradition of not assigning bylines to its articles, a tradition that is rooted in the belief that the substance of the writing is more important than the identity of the writer.
Historically, many publications printed articles without bylines to afford their writers the freedom to express a variety of perspectives. Additionally, anonymity provided a level of protection for writers who may have been expressing controversial or unpopular views.
This website, however, is not only about preserving tradition, but about fostering a collaborative, collective voice among its editorial staff. The articles on this website are discussed and debated in meetings open to all members of the editorial staff, and writers often work together on articles, with some pieces undergoing significant editing. This collaborative process helps to ensure that the final product represents the views and opinions of the entire editorial staff, rather than any individual writer.
Furthermore, anonymity allows writers to express their opinions and ideas without fear of personal repercussions. It permits experts and writers to speak freely, without being constricted by concerns about how their views may be perceived by others.
We believe we stand out for our adherence to a historical tradition of anonymous authorship, a tradition that prioritizes the substance of the writing over the identity of the writer, and allows for a collaborative, collective voice among the editorial staff, while also giving writers the freedom to express their ideas without fear of repercussions.
